Storm Shelter® products detect lightning and provide automatic circuit disconnection for AC and telecommunications lines.
Our products detect lightning threats in one of two different ways:
- Through compact, on-site lightning detectors, which accurately interpret the electromagnetic signature that lightning propagates.
- Through real-time data supplied by national lightning detection networks.
Depending upon the application. lightning threat notification may be delivered to device by:
- Tethered connection of detector
- Internet gateway
- Delivery of remote control data through in-building wireless
mesh networks.
Storm Shelter® has developed a reliable, efficient, relay that provides a .75 inch airgap for AC and DC connections, which can effectively deal with any lightning induced overvoltages within a building.



In a similar manner, Storm Shelter®’s Preemptive Power products for generators, command the transfer of power away from the power grid during times of lightning threats.
All of Storm Shelter®’s products restore connections to their original state when the storm passes.
